How can I stop my cat from scratching at our bedroom door?
We have two cats (one a 6 year old tabby and 1 eight week old kitten) and they love to play with each other. The problem is they like to play with each other on our bed. In the middle of the night. While we are sleeping. If we close them out of the bedroom, the big tabby starts pushing on the bedroom door and trying to open it by scratching and putting his paw under the door and pulling on the door. I have tried spraying him with a spray bottle, but it's not stopping him.
How can I get him to leave the door alone?
I've been trying to figure that one out for eight years.
But seriously, most cats do hate loose aluminum foil. It's never worked for us because we have a cat that loves to eat the stuff. (Look, Ma! My poop DOES sparkle!) So introduce the kitten to it and if she wants to play with it or nom on it, it won't work.
You could try rubbing some Vicks vaporub along the bottom of your door (and wipe it off again really well so it can't rub off on your cat.) We wipe down all the power cords in the house with it from time to time to keep our cats from chewing on them and playing with them, they seem to really hate the smell of it. At least it might make him give up sooner.
