The People's Court / Contempt of Court?
Hello All,
I have gotten myself hooked on 'The People's Court' and have come to enjoy it (only have one channel since satelite was disconnected so no choice in the matter). LOL
I was just wonder what would happen if someone in front of the Judge would tell the Judge off? I know that in real life, that person would be charged with contempt of court and be in jail with a fine.
What about these TV Courts? The Judge wouldn't have the power to impose a contempt charge, would they?
Judge Judy needs to be told a thing or two! Is it me or has she become a total jerk in the way she treats people? I have nothing nice to say about her so I'll say nothing more!
Judge Milian sure has my attention! I know that she was a Real Judge at one time and has a Great Personality. A Great Smile and who know what else, with that Robe on (wink). She knows when someone is BSing her and doesn't let it slide.

I remember one guy telling Judge Milian on PC that she's a dumbass. He didn't say that EXACTLY, but it was something like, "I think you're out of order, judge." She threw him out of the courtroom. As he was leaving, he said "If [insert bailiff's name here] puts his hands on me, there's going to be a problem," and the judge said something like, "I hope he drops you like a bad habit!" She was p***ed.
That guy ended up losing the case, but he was still outside with that reporter dude for the final interview. I don't know about that whole Contempt of Court charge though. I'm thinking no because I have a friend who was going to go on Judge Mathis and she was told that no matter who wins, ALL debts are paid by the sponsors. If the palintiff wins a case, the defendant doesn't pay the plaintiff - the sponsors do, or the show does. Well, since they get their money from the sponsors, you know the rest.
