Security ideas that aren't very costly are what?

I live in an apartment complex in a little apt village sorta out in the country. Its not bad here but alot of welfare people live out here cause it sure ain't the ritz! Very early Saturday morning our apt got broke into, but thank God nothing was taken, still our door was busted around where it locks. Our landlord only put a berrier between our door and the deadbolt. I feel more can be done to protect what we have its not much but still I'd like to keep it safe. Would framing out the door better be a security option? What ideas are simple and fairly cheap? We do have renters insurance. Are there options that are under $100?

Reframing the door is cost MUCH more then $100.

You can get a motion detector that literally screws into your present porch light.

Your landlord (I would) might agree to adding a Security Door. That is a heavy Screen Door that also has its own metal frame. You add a regular lock to them. They do not look bad and he can deduct the cost of that as a property improvement.

Also, you can very inexpensively reinforce your window locks. They even have some that you can use with the window open.
