Set Golden
What set of golf clubs should I get?
I'm relatively new to the sport so i want a good starter set of clubs that is not a lot of money...I was looking at sports authority...Should i get the Nextt Golf Z One 15 pc set, Top-Flight XL 15 pc set, or the Golden Bear Select 16 pc set. These are all relatively cheap clubs. Let me know. Or if you know any other clubs for a good price tell me.
Personally, I'd go with the Golden Bear set. I've hit a few of them, and for dirt-cheap clubs, they're OK. How much are you spending on your set?
Before I went with one of those sets, I'd check out this page: http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/irons-ironsets.html I get most of my clubs from here. Good deals on Hippo Golf, a set of Nickent brand for $69.99, and the good clubs are cheaper here, too. They do a sale every year where they sell their irons for what they claim is their cost-I can't vouch for that, but I picked up a set of Nike Slingshots for less than $240. There's a set of Callaway X-18 irons for $299-that would be my choice from their current selection (the Nike Slingshots would be second). I am currently using Ping Irons and Callaway woods-I love them both, but I've never seen Pings on this site.
What are you hitting now? If you can, borrow or rent a few sets of clubs to get a feel for what you like before making a committment-You'll probably feel that spending the extra money on your clubs is worth it. If you're looking for really cheap, check out garage sales in your area, as well as second-hand stores and personal property auctions...you can practically steal them once in a while if you stumble on the sale of someone who's never happy with their game and keeps changing equipment.
