What solid wood trim is best for birch plywood cabinetry?
I'm making an entertainment center. What kind of wood should I use to cover the cut edges of the birch plywood? I will stain the wood.
I use rolled veneer that is the width of the plywood. They make several thicknesses and types. Your local supply store will have several. You use gorilla glue . or contact glue and put the precut piece of oak veneer over the glue. Line up the top and bottom and clamp with wide cabinet clamps. You can make several clamps out of cut lumber that is the width ot the gluing area. A block of wood on each end and place this over the glued ends and let set. After drying, about a day , You can sand the top and bottom edge and stain to match entertainment center. Looks modern and has very clean lines. I ran a cove piece of trim around the top to give a finished appearance. I like the natural wood,light oak or half natural and half light oak together,finish stain.Looks great and very easy to do.
