What is a simple way to vent a storm door in the spring and summer in order to relieve heat build up ?

I am getting new Steel Exterior Doors and I want to make sure there is not too much heat build up in between the doors. I thought about just putting the screeens in the storm door, but this would lessen the security of the storm door. I also thought about leaving the storm door slightly opened about 2 inches to vent it. How big of a vent would you recommend on a storm door to relieve heat build up.

if you are getting steel doors then nobody's getting in, the storm door is just for show at that point =) so you should be fine with just screens. but if you would prefer the full security of your door then i would recommend using a all weather paint on the exterior of the Steel Door. that is what we use on our houses and we have never had a call back saying that the paint was peeling or buckling from the heat. and with the brutal summers we get here in Louisiana that says a lot for this paint. there is also another kind of paint we use in special circumstances but i can't remember what it's called. just go to the paint counter at you local hardware store and tell them what's going on. in my experience this guys are very knowledgeable and will help you in any way they can. hope this helps
