Should I get 1.67 or 1.74 lenses with -8.50?
I have -8.50 in both eyes, and no CYL or Axis. Should I pay double for 1.74 or 1.67 will be almost as thin as 1.74? I plan to get semi-rimless frames, and I want to get lenses that are very resistant to scratching.
You are only looking at about a 10% difference in thinness. If you have the money to pay double for the better lens, I would say go for it. The 1.74 lens will have some minute upgrades, but I personally don't think it is worth paying double for.
