Rosette Stone Worth the Money?

I recently told my parents that I wanted to learn Japanese and, due to the praise its received, I think Rosette Stone will be the best way. I won't be doubling it with a class since there aren't any classes being offered around town at all, so here's my question. Is Rosette Stone worth all the money? I want to be able to read and speak Japanese, so will it teach me all of these or just briefly graze them? Also, do you recommend I wait until a class is available to me or learn the language anyway and practice is continuously?

This question has been asked a fair bit recently and the overwhelming majority say no. Apparently it teaches you phrases and colloquial expressions for getting around but totally avoids the grammar from verb conjugations to noun declensions required to have a basic, intelligent conversation.
