Do I have to seal exterior wood if im going to paint it?
I live in Miami Florida. I just built a shelter and want to paint it to match my house. It will not be walked on. It is only a shelter.
Do I have to seal it even though Im going to be painting it?
If so is there a paint that has a sealer mixed in to it?
btw, the wood is not pressure treated.
Since the wood is not PT, paint it with an oil based exterior primer, such as Benjamin Moore Fresh Start (orange label). Let it dry completely, then apply 2 coats of a good exterior 100% acrylic paint. It will look great and hold up for a long time. Hope this helps.
